African Continental Finalist 2021-Karen Benedette Sequeira

Karen Benedette Sequeira

African Continental Finalist 2021

The Africa pageant was started in the year 2001 by Carolyn Baldwin-Botha, CEO of Pageants SA and who is known as the Mother of Pageantry in South Africa. Carolyn has produced literally thousands of titleholders nationally and international winners over the past 19 years, including Miss Africa which started in 2001 and Mrs Africa which began in the year 2006, with charity work being the golden thread that links this dynamic pageant system together.

With the years, came new opportunities, dynamics and most of all a movement to give dignity back to people in Africa. “Think about what you will say to someone if you can’t even give them hope.” The truth behind these words came with meeting extraordinary women in horrific circumstances, and we learnt that you can give someone at least their dignity back under any circumstances and we vowed to use the powerful platform of the Africa Pageants to make a significant change on the African Continent.

Carolyn expanded the Africa Pageant Brand for the first time into Africa in 2016, thus making it the first of its kind on the African Continent. With the passion and vision to make a significant and sustainable difference in Africa, the Africa Pageants Brand has grown tremendously over the last 3 years.

2016 - 2019 produced magnificent title holders who have represented Africa or their African countries at various international pageants around the globe. Africa Pageant is also the proud owners of the most prestigious Mrs Globe, Mrs Globe Classic license, United Nation International, Global United, Transcontinental, as well as many more that they are super proud of. To date we have produced over 10 International winners in the past two years which is an outstanding achievement.

For each International pageant, a different winner will be chosen befitting the criteria of the specific International pageant. This way, Africa can be thoroughly represented at the various pageants, thereby affording more African women the chance to compete internationally. Our Africa winners will only be sent to ethical International pageants that are in line with our own ethics and vision.

Through the past, present and future Africa winners, role models have and will be continuously produced and these ladies are playing a significant role in the promotion of Tourism in their countries, as well as Africa as a whole. These winners set their legacies through their humanitarian work in conjunction with the Africa Pageants Foundation.

'54 COUNTRIES

ONE CONTINENT

1 AFRICA

ONE WORLD'

The Africa Pageants Foundation supports the AFRICAN QUEEN FOUNDATION in Africa. This project will see surgical procedures being carried out on women living with Endemic Goiter or Fistula Conditions. The aim here is reach and treat women in the most remote and war- ridden areas who have to live with these two horrifying conditions.

Each finalist and title holders are encouraged to make a difference in their communities and support their local charity organization. The African Queen Foundation is a non-profit organization that distributes washable, re-usable feminine sanitary wear to underprivileged girls and women to charity organizations in South Africa as well as into Africa – the latest outreach being to Mozambique in April after the devasting Cyclones that the country experienced.

The prestigious final pageant week will take place in the North West Province, where the ladies will be visiting a number of Tourist attractions during pageant week. The Crowning event is set to take place November 2020. The venue for the crowning will be the Castle in Kyalami, Midrand, South Africa.

Against this background we are proud to announce that KAREN SEQUEIRA has been chosen as a 2020 Africa Continental Finalist.
